Everything you need to know about tryouts, club fees, payment options, practices, tournaments, and the 2026–2027 Texas Venom Sports volleyball season.
What age groups are we looking for?
Teams for 2026-2027 season are open to athletes in the 12U–14U age divisions.
Because Texas Venom Sports is a new and growing organization, the final team or teams formed will depend on tryout attendance, age groups represented, and player evaluations.
What do coaches look for in players?
Our coaches look at much more than just a player’s current volleyball skill level.
We evaluate:
- Volleyball fundamentals and athletic ability
- Effort and attitude
- Coachability
- Communication
- Willingness to learn
- Teamwork
- Court awareness
- Overall potential
Players do not have to be highly experienced to attend tryouts or to inquire . Development, character, effort, and willingness to learn are important parts of what we look for when building our teams.
CLUB FEES & PAYMENTS
How much does it cost to play for Texas Venom Sports?
The 2026–2027 club fee is $1,000 per player for athletes selected for a Texas Venom Sports volleyball team.
The payment breakdown is:
Total Club Fee: $1,000
Upon Team Commitment: $100
Remaining Balance: $900
Monthly Payments: $225 per month for 4 months
The initial $100 commitment payment is part of the $1,000 total club fee. It is not an additional fee.
What happens if my athlete is selected at tryouts?
If your athlete is selected and you choose to accept and commit to their roster position, a $100 commitment payment will be required.
The $100 payment:
- Secures your athlete’s roster spot
- Allows us to begin the uniform package order
- Is applied toward the $1,000 total club fee
Once the $100 commitment payment is made, the remaining $900 balance will be divided into four monthly payments of $225.
What is the payment schedule?
Our payment plan is designed to make the cost of club volleyball more manageable for families.
Upon Team Commitment — $100
Secures the player’s roster spot and begins the uniform ordering process.
Month 1 — $225
Month 2 — $225
Month 3 — $225
Month 4 — $225
Total Paid — $1,000
Families may also choose to pay their remaining balance early.
What is included in the $1,000 club fee?
The club fee helps cover the major expenses associated with the season, including:
- Tournament entry fees
- Practice facility and court rental
- Coaching and team expenses
- Club insurance and administrative expenses
- Uniform package
The uniform package includes:
- 2 jerseys
- 2 pairs of shorts/spandex
- 1 team shirt
- 1 Texas Venom backpack
Are there any additional costs?
Yes. USA Volleyball (USAV) player registration is separate from the $1,000 club fee and is the responsibility of the parent/guardian.
Families are also responsible for their own transportation, meals, and lodging, when needed, for tournaments.
If the team participates in the Lone Star Regional Tournament in Oklahoma, families should expect additional travel and lodging expenses.
PRACTICES & PLAYER DEVELOPMENT
How often will the team practice?
Texas Venom athletes will have 2 practices per week.
1 On-Court Volleyball Practice
One practice each week will be a traditional on-court volleyball practice focused on fundamentals, position training, team systems, communication, and game preparation.
1 Workout / Athletic Development Practice
The second weekly practice will focus on conditioning, strength, agility, footwork, coordination, and overall athletic development to help our players become stronger and more confident athletes.
Workout practices will be held at select locations within San Marcos, depending on space and facility availability.
Specific locations and schedules will be communicated to families as they are confirmed.
TOURNAMENTS & TRAVEL
How many tournaments will the team play?
We are currently planning for approximately 6 tournaments during the 2026–2027 season.
Our goal is to provide our athletes with quality competitive opportunities while keeping the season affordable and manageable for our families.
Where will tournaments be located?
The majority of our regular-season tournaments are expected to be between the Austin and San Antonio areas.
Keeping most of our tournament schedule within this area helps reduce unnecessary travel and hotel expenses while still giving our athletes access to quality competition.
Will the team travel out of state?
Possibly.
There is a possibility that Texas Venom Sports will participate in the Lone Star Regional Tournament in Oklahoma.
Participation is not currently guaranteed and will depend on scheduling, eligibility requirements, overall costs, and how the season develops.
If the team decides to participate, families will receive information in advance so they have time to plan for travel and lodging expenses.
AFTER TEAM SELECTION
What happens after my athlete accepts a roster position?
Once you accept the roster position and make the $100 commitment payment, your athlete’s spot on the team will be secured and we can begin the uniform ordering process.
The remaining $900 will be paid in four monthly installments of $225.
Families will then receive additional information regarding:
- Payment due dates
- Uniform sizing
- USAV registration
- Practice locations and schedules
- Tournament schedule
- Required forms and waivers
- Team expectations
- Season information
